A revitalized Daniil Medvedev claimed his first trophy for nearly 30 months with success over Frenchman Moutet in the Almaty Open title decider.

The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a challenging period, managing just one win at the major tournaments and experiencing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

The player's unpredictability on the professional circuit - and struggles with his service game in specific - led to him exiting of the top ten and ultimately separating with long-term trainer Cervara.

Presently training with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, he has steadily improved in the past month - climaxing in a tightly fought competitive win over challenger Moutet.

It is the player's initial championship following the Italian tournament and first on a hard surface from March of that year.

Success also signifies he has secured twenty-one titles at 21 distinct events.

"For the first time I am participating in a tournament with my two daughters together, so to secure a title is really nice," commented world number 14 the champion.

"This victory is in tribute of my second daughter her name, because the first title I won when my older daughter my daughter was born was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his last six title deciders, including in the German tournament earlier this year.

His defensive approach and regular reactions on the playing surface had caused some to question if his skill to compete at the top level was over.

Yet the athlete has made changes in recent weeks, making an effort to advance forward and compete assertively, reinforced by an enhanced serving game.

He came back from a break down in the opening set against the tricky opponent, winning four of the last five points to take the lead.

Both players traded break points in the middle set before the Frenchman, striving for his initial tour title, gained dominance to force a third set.

He defended four initial chances in a close final set before Medvedev broke to that score to close out the victory.

Appropriately, Medvedev earned victory with a point at the front of the court, with Moutet incapable to control a volley after two hours and 38 minutes.
